GERMAN shepherds have been branded the worst purebred offender when it comes to dog attacks in NSW.

Corrimal resident Chris McLean says his five-year-old pooch Tia is as "gentle as a lamb" and like most big dogs, German shepherds require obedience training to ensure they do not become dangerous.

Tia demonstrates her gentle side to Mr McLean and his niece Marcie Morrow, 5.
